About Camping Leader Training
The Camping Leader qualification enables campers to support and develop the camping proficiency of others. Participants can operate in various campsites with vehicle access, including facilities-free land and commercial sites. Those holding both this qualification and Mountain Training walking leadership credentials may operate in terrain per that scheme’s scope, including journey and wild camping.
Who’s it for?
Ideal for Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, President’s Award, and Ten Tors training participants. Skills apply to commercial campsites and wild camping groups.
You’ll need to be aged 17 or over, have some supervisory experience of overnight camping, and a genuine interest in the supervision of groups.
Training Course
The training is an online resource developed by Mountain Training that covers all syllabus aspects through presentations, videos, and quizzes. It should take around 4 hours to complete. Participants may revisit the course materials before assessment.
Registration
Register via Mountain Training’s Candidate Management System and enrol in the Camping Leader scheme (£20 cost).
